For coil split, which is your preferred configuration?
For instance, do you split the neck pup such that the single coil is nearer to the neck? Or do you use the inner coil?
Like wise for the bridge.
There would be a tonal difference depending on which coil you split.
Also, when the selection is in the middle position, does the 2 single coil cancel hum?

i will usually have the inner coils to be active (ie. neck humbucker- lower coil/ bridge humbucker- upper coil), guess it's the petrucci influence making its mark :-)
yes there will be a tonal difference but we are working with the single coil of a humbucker, either coils wouldn't manifest an authentic single coil tone so i'm not too particular about that- as long as i hear the difference :-)
hum cancelling- you can ask the tech to look into that, some people do not wish for it to be hum cancelling because it'll give off that honk.
