Revelations in deed

Super glad this happened. There's still some bitter Queensryche mediocrity ringing in my ears. Nothing wrong with that, I'm not a big fan, it didn't hamper anything. Instead, this release matters. Possessed had been the staple of my formative years of playing the guitar. It was intense, angry & non-conformist- essential ingredients to tread the wayward path while staying true to metal. Bet you didn't know Primus' Larry La Londe was in the initial line up, no? Coming back to this album, Possessed delivered at all fronts despite only having one surviving member who is now wheelchair-bound. My respect goes to Jeff Becerra for keeping it alive.

The overall music had somewhat climbed up a notch since their early days. I saw possessed as one of those proto-death outfits in the likes of Sodom, Destruction, Kreator, et al. However, Possessed had that extra inclinations towards the extreme, something well-illustrated by Morbid Angel. Anyway, RoB showcases a polished production & much of the distortion heard here has loads of tasty modernism- think Axe FX coupled with EMGs maybe. I'm not sure what was used gear-wise, better not speculate. Nothing sounds wimpy, that's for sure.
