DV Greg

Greg Howe has just received his latest amp- a DV Mark Triple 6. This is basically a hybrid amp featuring a tube pre-amp section. I respect Greg Howe for sticking to his personal preference & not jumping into the current hype. It's all about what works for us, regardless of the implements.

But the personal model has Greg's name on it, as well as his band's: Maragold

Mark that pedal!

I was at Davis GMC yesterday to check out the DV Mark amps but it's the Tube Marker pedal which got the better of me. Do you wish for a Tubescreamer-esque pedal which does not bump the midrange & has more warmth to make it a worthy stand-alone pedal? That's the Tube Marker in a nutshell. More tone scrutiny soon...

DV Mark: Tube Marker
List: $180

Mark it!

Hold it! You said you've exhausted your search for a small wattage amp head for domestic use, no? Well, Davis GMC had just introduced the DV Mark range of amps (DV Mark is the guitar division of Ita;ly's Mark Bass) which I've just tested. Pictured above is the Galileo 15 (a 15-watter... duh!) single channel head

...& its elder brother here which is nothing excessive in terms of physical dimensions; the Little 40 L34 (no prizes for guessing its wattage rating). This one is capable of wattage reduction but has a little more gain than its 15W counterpart. It also responded superbly with any drive pedals as I've discovered.

You can try these amps at the new Davis GMC extension store (pictured above) located right next to the Excelsior basement escalator. There are also some other items there on sale (guitars & pedals), come official opening day, (according to Janet) there'd be more items on discount.

Galileo 15: $850
Little 40 L34: $950

These are introductory prices, do take note.
