Driving East River

The East River Drive by EHX is a simple overdrive, nothing harsh, no distortion voicings to be heard here.

Things are kept simple to such an extent that the EHX chaps decided to use a 'safe' drive formula this time round- the JRC4558 chip, the beloved unit used in your Tubescreamers :-)

Barbers' innards

The good thing about many Barber pedals is that they feature more tone controls under the chassis. The above pic is how the COOL pedal looks like with 4 trimmers (arrowed) available for the user to further refine his tone.

The SUPER SPORT has more trimmers as seen here & note the chip used for the pedal.

Ibanez TS7: That chip in use...

This morning's probing exercise saw me removing the base plate cover of my favourite drive booster, Ibanez's TS7.
The reason why I like my TS7's overall tone (including its boosted setting) is partly attributable to the chip in use: that fabled JRC4558.
