SE CE

That's right folks, PRS has included the CE models into the SE lineup. This stunning orange version is the SE CE 24
This means the SE range welcomes another bolt-on make into the family. But PRS being PRS, they made sure the SE version (right) is different from the USA-made CE (left). From this visual reference alone, we note the SE version was done well & in no way inferior to its American sibling. It's just different.

The other bolt-on CE in this release is the Swamp Ash Special

The initial Swamp Ash Special created a little controversy with that reversed middle pickup which irked many fans & it didn't prolong the guitar's longevity in the catalog. Looking forward to try these instruments out when they get here, whenever that will be.

SE SS?

Interesting leak by Black Smith showing the possible existence of the PRS SE Silver Sky. There were suggestions / speculations last year that the Silver Sky might see an SE iteration. So when this was 'accidentally' surfaced just a week ago it just deepened the belief. Looking at that body outline, the SE version is lacking in accuracy at the treble side cutaway. Don't be surprised if the headstock ends up looking like the standard PRS design instead of the current reversed version. Anyway, if you are interested, Black Smith strings are available at Cristofori Music School.

PRS: SE Singlecut Trem

PRS has added a variation of the very successful SE Singlecut in their offerings; the SE Singlecut Trem. This is a whammy-able version of the SE Singlecut whose tone is somewhat different to the discerning ears; it has added boom due to the overall heftiness of the body & not primarily due to the addition of a different hardware.

There are some of us who find the stop-tail PRS guitars (SE or otherwise) a little too challenging when it comes to picking hand palm mutings, more so for the metal lads who chug their bass notes; the aforementioned hardware doesn't easily respond to such playing due to its flushed radius design but it's still possible with a little more effort in trying. If that's the case, the whammy type bridge would provide a good alternative.

The PRS SE Singlecut Trem is now available @ Davis GMC for less than $1K...
