60th

Happy 60th birthday to the nation. I have stopped watching parades commemorating this day. I renew my allegiance in reserved retreat. While we are united on this day to acknowledge our roots & pride, people still remain subservient to the narrative that continues to bleed them. They are afraid to approach, understand & embrace change. They rely on people with curated narratives in ensuring their future are attended to objectively. Have a good weekend, everyone.

Keepin' it alive

Just very happy to see the younger generation being interested in music & keeping the passion alive. In this day & age, youths out there are too immersed into social media & thinking that's the benchmark of personal ability. If you stop to take pics of performing individuals out there, please offer some contributions, even if it means giving up loose change; it means a lot to them.

Today marks the 58th year of independence for Singapore. Living in this country is all about slogging it out to make ends meet. Prices are going up, houses are getting smaller & the divide between the people & the elitist government grows bigger.

I am struggling to get re-employed post-cancer while this guy does nothing & still get paid. The last time I checked, the deductions for my income tax are still active. This $8,500 - whose money is used here? Folks, loving your country does not equal to a total agreement with the government. It's not a crime to do so, yes?

The people must also do their part in showing sincerity when it comes to respect for the country. They can start by putting up the state flag the right way round, not like this, of course.

Happy & prosperous birthday to the beloved nation. Testing times ahead despite edging towards normalcy. Prices are going up - food, utilities. housing... We do not sleep well at night knowing the waking day is further uncertainty for our children. Handouts are not the answer, it's a political motivation more than anything else. But the love for the motherland remains unflinching. Majulah!

56th

Happy 56th birthday to the beloved country. Things are still shackled by the pandemic but we are grateful for the mini celebrations & a day off work. The dissidents here - we still love our country, we are just averse to the administrators. These people should be replaced soon.

Very happy with this year's National Day theme song, it's a deserving upbeat tune with bits of sombre takes in between; all done tastefully. Definitely a turnover from last year's semi-meloncholy number & the recycled compositions of the years before.

It still carries on despite these strange times. A subdued celebration but a celebration nevertheless. Many happy returns to my beloved country, may we move on & out of this charade - we deserve better.

Choice 2020

Singaporeans head for the polls today. It should be an easy one if you've been keeping up with what went on for the last week or so & reading between the lines (also - reading between the lies). I will be more critical when it's a level playing field which is not the case in the mean time. Just glad it's a long weekend, time to catch up with gear. Anyway, enjoy this one:

There might have been further developments since this took place some days ago but let's understand the initial occurrences. Heritage guitars had initiated a 'defensive suit' against Gibson in light of Gibson's ongoing harassment of other manufacturers of late. 

We have limited details why this legal wrangling is taking place. In light of the potential economic slump attributable to the COVID-19 situation, manufacturers should start collaborating, not opposing one another. I have a particular interest in this because:

That's right folks, Heritage has a Singapore element now & at some point in time, especially at the backdrop of such a fallout, people might question if the Singapore pedigree has anything to do with such aggression. I'm sure you'd agree that we need to reserve further comments till finer details surface. There are loyalists here in both the Gibson & Heritage camps but we should be guitar loyalists more than anything else. Such tension would eventually affect product integrity; the ultimate losers here are buyers.

Happy 54th birthday to my beloved country. Changes are in the air but it seems that people here are still haunted by 'what if's... This includes the more educated generation of people who can read between the lines. Unlike the pre-millenium situation, the opposition parties today are smarter, bolder & more daring. Also unlike the pre-millenium situation, the current authority is banking on a spectral buy-in to convert the youngsters. These people do not live through the pre-independent hardship so if you keep drumming into their heads a sense of secured livelihood, they would most probably not listen. In any case, the reek of bullshit is becoming more apparent. I'm sharing my favourite National Day song & it's not something recent compounded by the fact that this year's song is a mishmash of older stuff, recycled, to put it bluntly. I hold the messages in this song very dearly.

Here are the details of the launch today. I walked past FUNAN Center yesterday & didn't see much human presence to indicate an official opening of the building. Anyway, a brief cyber-comm with the organizer confirmed the event & an assurance that every guitar purchase comes with a complementary bag less the V2.6C 😎

Anticipating this event next weekend- finally, there's an official distributor here which makes buying so much easier.

However, the models currently offered are pretty much limited- no singlecut/ Type E/ Type V/ Artist... On behalf of the keen SOLAR fans here, we hope that the distributor is as keen as us in seeing this brand through. We hope it won't suffer the PEAVEY fate where the distributor has very little interest in hearing out what the players want & bring in only selected models which they think has a commercial potential.

Despite being only 7 days away (less than 7 actually, launch day is 28th June) scant details are available. Hoping there'll be an autograph/ meet-&-greet session at the very least. Will share here once they come to light.
