As anticipated, the Starmaster (Japan) is available here (Swee Lee: $2,199). It's a limited run affair so... there.

Starmaster

New release by Fender (Japan), the Starmaster.

It's really a hybrid of its Starmaster (neck / headstock) & the Jazzmaster models. That headstock there, well, it's not nice to put it politely. Then again this headstock outline has its cult following. As for me, I'm not obliged to like it.

Judging by this black version, that elbow relief there is not a lighting effect, just a slight colour difference to make it look unique.
