Harmonizing

Another adventure out of the comfort zone. Got this for a good price, the former owner is not really a guitar person, more like a sonic experimentalist. So far, I'm using this to somehow make my solos more interesting. To me, it's not really suitable for extended riffs. A proper appraisal to come.

Managed to put the (BOSS) Harmonist (PS-6) through some tests recently- thanks to brother Jumahat @ Swee Lee for the assistance.

This pedal is essentially a doubler (with options to have a 3rd voicing in use), nothing too different from an octave pedal but the displacements are not always below the active notes. Unlike other similar units which would churn out blurbs of confusion when chords & pinched harmonics are in play, the PS-6 is intelligent enough to recognize such signals & generate the correct displacements accordingly. However, if you are not a distortion person, the PS-6 would be an impractical supplement in your effects line up; clean notes would simply not manifest clarity.

Another new one from the BOSS people; the Harmonist PS-6. This is not to be confused with its previous incarnation, the HR-2 despite being functionally similar. The '6' suffix there indicates how many evolutions the pedal had been through, being named Super-Shifter in one of its incarnations. 

This pedal duplicates your input in a different key so it gives the illusion that there is another spectre player playing along making the overall output thicker & more expansive. This effect is best heard in Jason Becker's Mabel's Fatal Fable. Here's a demo off the manufacturer's YouTube channel:
