BP online

Sign of the times, really - Bass Player magazine will cease publication & go online instead. I still love to read gear-related magazines but going to town & buying them is a hassle. I believe there's less readership when it comes to the physical publications & many of us don't mind reading the digital / online version. It's a green move as well; less paper used. Let's see if I can just grab the final copy before not seeing them any more at bookstores / news stands. Still remember those days when I spend virtually the whole day at MPH (Stamford Road) reading Guitar World, Bass Player & Metal Maniacs.

1997

Well, well, well... a 1997 Fender Frontline magazine was hiding between books, still in very good condition for a 20-year old publication. I used to bring this along to cafes for a good read back then. Life without wifi & data connection was simple & good.

That Strat on the cover- I wouldn't buy it. Look at that gap there, you'd wonder how it got through QC.

My first Fender was not a Strat for this reason; that headstock outline. Maybe I have OCD genes in me somewhere but I noticed how the trimming of that indicated outline was somehow 'wrong'. I've included the later, Y2K-ish headstock on the right for comparison. It seems that the design was somehow a little compressed at some points so to me it's quite repulsive. I bought a Tele 😜

Of Becker & Ihsahn

Yesterday's day-out acquisitions:
  • Guitar Player magazine: I've stopped buying guitar magzines a long time ago since there were online versions to refer to but with Jason Becker on the cover, it's a must-buy...
  • Got my Ihsahn CD as well, was expecting a July collection but sometimes, the good things do come early :-)

Cut-throat prices...

I'm not promoting TG magazine but just alerting fans out there who swear by this publication; a quick price check @ 2 stores:
  • MPH: $18.95
  • HMV: $23.95

So what justifies the price difference here? Rental issues? MPH & HMV are neighbours @ City Link Mall.
