Used, May '25

Starting June positively. Sending this over to the recycling bin. That's how many strings I've used since September 2024. You now understand why I find it necessary to see things through with budget strings that are, at the very least, not repulsive. Wishing everyone a good start to the mid-year.

A year

Was wondering how much string waste I would accumulate over a year & this is the answer. I kept filling this container up with used strings since June 2022 & it reached the brim just days ago. Will deposit this in the recycling bin soon. There are unfortunately no active recycling movements involving guitar strings in this country. I believe these can be recycled & we should make efforts to give metal a new lease of life. Care for the environment - guitar-inclined people can make a difference by doing their part.

Earth Day 2011

Today is Earth Day, I remember this day. Unlike Earth Hour which happened not too long ago, there's not much publicity for ED. Maybe ED is unfashionable, remembering earth's woes for 1 hr only is currently preferred- double standards, plain for all to see.

This is my current practice- accumulating guitar-related trash for recycling. What better day than Earth Day to send empty guitar envelopes, boxes & used batteries to the recycling bin, which happened moments ago.

The environmental guitarist

I own many guitars. As I play them often, there is a need to replace the deteriorated strings which entail the generation of much paper waste in the form of unwanted guitar strings packaging/ envelopes. The quantity of waste you see above is about a third of what I discard almost every month. I make it a point to accumulate these recyclable trash & bring them to my workplace where a recycle bin is ready for the taking.

I urge you to do likewise. Many town councils in our neighbourhood as well as the commercial organizations today are making the effort to promote environmental awareness. They provide collection bins for recyclable materials within our reach. It's only fitting that we make an effort to show that guitar enthusiasts like us do care about the environment.
