Thomas who?

You won't know Thomas Blug unless you are into Fender or Hughes & Kettner. Well, to many of us guitar dweebs, when it comes to all things shred-worthy & melodic, Neil Zaza would come to mind but you'd do well to check Mr. Blug out. He uses a battered '61 Strat (worth USD400K in the mean time...) to maximum effect, conjuring some very tasteful tunes & unbelieveable heaviness at times.

sub, you should probably check out Daita as well, really melodic stuff. And he uses a PRS custom 24 lol.

thanks for the heads up.

i listen to all notable players regardless of whichever guitars they use; renowned brand names or otherwise.

to me, it's all about the player, his ideas & his tones. the implements to achieve the means are secondary.

hmm but isnt it the guitar and the amp combination that gives the guitarist his signature tone?

whatever it is, guitarists like Daita, Thomas Blug and Neil Zaza have tones that set them apart from the more "common" shred artists like Malmsteen, Satch and the lot.

signature tone, as you've mentioned, are endowned choices of the musician. it could be Brand X, made in the North Pole but if it delivers the musicians ideals, it should be respected.

this is the reason Santana sounds like Santana despite the Gibson/ Yamaha/ PRS rotation, period.

too much emphasis is on brand name propulsion these days but everybody feels secure with tried & trusted products (myself included), especially in the hands of professionals. a paradigm shift isn't about to be staple any time.
