The mods done:
- Orange Drop capacitor installed
- Re-wire to 1 volume + 1 tone (the default controls were 2 x volume- I have no use for such schematics...)
- Coil split switch: I can't resist hearing the Duncan '59 in single coil mode
At the end of the day, it's a wind-down at Ansari's... a sumptuas mutton briyani serving & the above Habib's Cocktail Special. This is one of the many specialty shaken iced drinks available for your rehydration. The alchemy here is one of distinction; you can make out what's in the mix: rose syrup (I was duly informed it's not the off-the-shelf variety, a mystical derivative, unique to Ansari), mint, apple, soda but it's one inseparable mix. Unity in diversity- that's how it is.

lucky for u to have a jedi master just around the block...
not really, the journey to Beez's takes me about an hour every time.
Hi sub, I was there at beez that day, with the grey RG3EX1... That Phoenix has monstrous tone indeed! Do mahogany bodies with JB/59 sound like that in general or are there other factors (amp aside of course)
hi bro :-)
JB/59 is a wonderful pairing. these won't work in ALL guitars, it's not a sure formula.
the other factor would be any tone enhancing pedals you own, especially the distortion unit. the JB is already mid-range rich. it requires other frequencies reinforcement, do keep this is mind.
of course, the amp plays a big part in shaping a JB equipped guitar, through yeras of playing, i hear better responses from amps with bigger drivers, 12" units would be best!
Cool, thanks for your advice! Was also wondering, what's your personal take on JB/59 versus Dimarzio (maybe classic Air Norton-Tonezone/Breed) pairings in basswood RGs?
basswood does not possess the singing mahogany midrange to propel the JB but given the right amp, it would sing. for basswood units, if you still insist on Duncans, do consider the Distortion/ Full Shred for the bridge, instead.
