Ibanez: S1XXV... keeping them green?

Ibanez's S1XXV comes with a set of green strings- I've no obligations to replace them with the same set of greens...

hmmm do the DR neons perform that much longer as they say?

They last as long as the coat is there, once the flaking takes place, they are regular strings indeed

how long does the coat stay on?

as long as you don't scratch them off :-) that's quite impossible to achieve at the picking area, the fretting area usually remain unscathed.

Yes but the coating makes them horrible to play. Sticky, plasticy feel. They sound just as plastic.

that's subjective. some people find them acceptable, i don't feel the repulsion, just that i don't fancy them too much because they flake off. it's not really rewarding for my because i pick hard so those coated strings won't last that long for me.

it's psychological because those of us who own classical guitars won't mind that non-metal feel of the nylons but once we switch to coated strings, we feel there's something different about it :-P
