I don't celebrate anniversaries, birthdays & such but I'm eternally grateful to you for making this happen- as at 2034hrs today, theguitaraddict had more than 2 million hits :-O I hope to keep going & not lose the interest in documenting guitar-related matters here & I sincerely hope all this effort are meaningful to you.

Dr. Duck's neck support

This is a neat product by Dr. Duck- a guitar neck rest. There aren't too many shops selling guitar DIY accessories/ tools here so if this could be made available to us, we'd definitely be grateful. Wonder if SV Guitars can make this available here...

Strings Sunday

Was in town yesterday, despite the foul weather, to get strings. Glad I took the train as the news reported flooding at the Orchard Road stretch. Purchased the above 3 packs:

• Dr Duck nickel alloy set. I've not tried them for quite some time now, I feel the need to 'remember' the feel of strings which I seldom use.
• SIT Power Steels. Some of you might know that the SITs are rather bend-friendly, even the steel set. This 'soft' factor might be the reason why my frets last longer. Since the steel Curt Mangans are not available, I've been turning to SIT/ D'Addario for my steel needs.
• Schecter Decimator for 8-string guitars. It's not easy owning 8-string guitars, strings availability is a recurring pain I have to deal with. The Decimator is really testing my patience, not that they are lousy but they are essentially a set of 10s which isn't my preferred range...

The simple effort in making one's guitar-playing more enjoyable: Changing strings...

I had a fresh set of Dr. Duck strings (.009 set) in my LTD M-53 & that fresh, crunchy feel under the fingers made me play for hours... Feels good = Play more :-)

I'm giving the Dr. Duck multi-purpose fluid a go. It's touted to be effective, that's the only reason why I'm interested. Upon use:

• As a cleaning agent: Removes dirt from rosewood/maple fretboard effectively.
• As a polishing agent: It's very oily. You need to wipe off repeatedly using a dry (preferably cotton) cloth. The shine thereafter is above what a typical polish would offer. Also great for metal parts.
  
• As string lubricant: Due to the very oily nature, a mere drop is sufficient for the entire string length. Again, repeat wipe-offs are necessary to ensure the oily feel doesn't affect your playing norms.
