Single coil weekend

Sudden urge to hear single coils in action so it had been like this since Friday- my LTD ST-213 plugged into my Marshall DSL40 for cleans & drive. Along with a Strat-type guitar comes the Strat-type profile so playing this means dealing with a rounder neck profile &  fretboard radius. This isn't a bad thing, definitely but it's away from my comfort zone. One doesn't master guitar playing until one handles everything & still remains true to one's playing.

Seymour Duncan makes some of the best contemporary single coil tones this side of Fender. I love how these stacks measure up to distortion in addition to sounding stellar clean. It's when one plays the single coil that one plays something different; I played predominantly pentatonics with this one but being me, I get bored easily & had to add some chromatics in there.

LTD: ST213 simple make-over

Gave my ST213 a simple make-over; a new string retainer- the rounded type. This one is devoid of sharp edges for a smoother, snag-free tuning. Available at TYMC: $3...

LTD: ST-213 ash/ maple (Part 2)

Rear view of the ST-213. Nothing special... OK, maybe the block heel there is a little beveled to allow a slightly more friendly reach to the upper frets. This is normal for LTD, really.

Made in Vietnam- no hiding that.

LTD: ST-213 Ash/ Maple NAT

Ah... the LTD ST-213. What's there not to like after trying them at Davis GMC recently. So I got myself this ash body + maple fretboard version. Superb QC I'd say, some very high standards seen here & it's all below the $500 mark. Previously, LTD only manufactured the distressed version of the ST model which I did own: CLICK The ST-213, in my opinion, is a little above the ST-203 not because it's free from the distressed/ relic hype but because there were more attention to playability & presentation, making you more immersed once you get things started.

I've heard it in action in store, more updates after I've put it through the rigors of my set up. There is no other way, of course :-)

LTD: STs...

Great release by LTD, the ST models are now offered with ash body-rosewood or maple fingerboards (pictured above- ST-213). I used to own the ST-203 but couldn't come to terms with the 'relic' finish- it was too cheesy. These darlings here are more upfront with their features; nothing too cosmetic to throw you off the feel & tone.
