What?

Some time last week, I saw these errors over at Swee Lee's webstore listings. A PRS S2 was priced as a core model Standard 24.

The other, an Indonesian Ibanez labelled as a Prestige. 

I reached out to someone over at Swee Lee to highlight the aforementioned oversights & it was attended to. Not the swiftest of reactions but hopefully it was done on time. I do not have a vested interest in Swee Lee, I don't receive perks for doing so. I believe I can mitigate a potential disaster because I value my friends at Swee Lee. Yes, I still have (good) friends working there. This is my way of supporting them.

Imagine someone actually bought an S2 PRS for that price, the refund process might be painful. Ditto the Ibanez, despite not being a price issue, after buying the instrument, there's a realization that it's not a Prestige model. What if the discovery for both cases happened after some time, will refunding still be an option considering there's a potential for wear & tear happening along the way? I'm not a Swee Lee employee & I do not wish to speculate on any refunding administration here, just an after-thought. On a personal note, I've nothing against Swee Lee, I will continue to support them & my friends there. Hopefully the individual(s) behind this oversight re-visits the required conviction to serve the company purposefully.

We wonder why a fixed bridge guitar requires locking nut. Then again, we also noticed the wrong inlay there. So...

Blunder Sunday

Sold in one of the stores here. When you see it. 

Not laurel

This is stated at Swee Lee's website. Laurel is one of the current popular substitutes for rosewood. It's a straight-grained, porous wood type with a brown hue. As depicted above, that's clearly not a laurel fretboard.

To be fair to this oversight, both Cutlass versions are featured at SL's webpage, it's quite the case of a duplicate spec sheet. Why am I putting this under the microscope? I'm asking you to exercise due care when buying something online especially if there is a probability of not getting what you clicked for. We understand that some stores are bound by their exchange policy & getting your issues addressed is a little tricky. Nothing personal against SL here, it's an oversight that can be attended to quickly.

Music Radar recently gave the Ibanez AE500 a glowing review. I must say it's deserving.

The same review featured the guitar's flip side- or is it? Note the absence of cutaway & an entirely different headstock.

EDIT: Another one

Here's another oversight worth noting. I'm not doing this for the sole purpose of bringing certain parties down. I would like to highlight the fact that it takes a team to move an organization to greater heights. The team members must consist of people who are passionate & exercise due caution when dispensing their duties for the organization. If it's within your means, hire people with relevant knowledge/ common interest for your company. 

Suppose Individual X ordered this guitar online. X relied on the product image to commit to his purchase. The company delivered an item based on their product description instead. X wish to terminate his purchase but the store has a no-refund policy for such circumstances. X was offered to replace his initial choice with a substitute of equal value. X does not wish to further his purchase, but the store has no other modes of compensation. This is just one possible scenario. Why put your organization through such an unnecessary predicament?

EDIT: The guitar in the preceding discussion is not from the American Professional series. An American Pro model sports 22 frets & has a truss rod access over at the headstock (21 frets + no truss rod access at the headstock in the above discussion). The correct Am Pro HSS model is depicted here, the latest version sports a zebra finish Shawbucker. Please note.

Pale ferro?

This is pau ferro. It's a current alternative (among others) for instruments sporting rosewood parts.

So which part of this instrument's fretboard is pau ferro? 🙈

Not true

Every day, guitar geeks out there spend hours on end detailing gear. They take note of every possible detail, every irregularity, every variation, every inconsistency, every this & that because it's their passion. What happened over at a popular social media website featuring more photos than anything else (yes, you should know what I'm talking about) is about pride. 

As indicated above, the manufacturer wanted people to check out one of their models through that posting. Nothing malicious here, they are a commercial entity, they have every right to carry out a product promo.

What cracked everyone up was the fact that the picture was not a Firebird Studio model. I'm putting the right reference here for you to compare/ take note of. No idea what took place but an oversight like this one speaks volume about the amount of pride taking place over at the organization's commercial division. You wish others to embrace your instrument philosophy but you overlooked such a simple task. Hmm... 😶

SGJ error

You know the Gibson SGJ...

Some of the online stores got the specs wrong, two of them are depicted above. This would be a little complicated if you rely on the details & went on to buy the product. Just keep in mind that buying-selling is a legal engagement (in fact, it's contractual) so any error(s) would entail some (legal) issues.
