Purple Monday

Spent time with Miss Purple today. I had plans to swap the pickups out. These lack the bottom end punch for  heavy stuff. Then again, the Alnico Classic Pro was meant for some vintage-esque voicings with a hint of twang. After running it through some set ups, this guitar is actually good for distortion, just not the heavy type. The overall crunchy tones are just not meant for bass note peddling & chugging. So the ACPs will stay put for variety's sake.

Head-ache

I'm still waiting for Epiphone to reply pertaining to this query; did they do two versions of the current Les Paul Muse headstock? This is what we are getting here (as depicted above).

This is what is shown at the Epiphone homepage - saw the difference? It cuts both ways, folks. 1) They accidentally released a proto batch to dealers which shouldn't happen. No idea what it's gonna entail but we hope for the best. 2) It is a legit, pre-revision design because there are other models sporting it; Tom Thayer & Vivian Campbell's signature models are examples. 

In any case, we would wanna avoid the situation where one would accuse the other of owning a fake. It could end ugly. 

Epiphone 2020 (3): A-MUSE-ing

Continuing with Epiphone's impressive 2020 showcase - the Muse LP. It's a modern, chambered body affair but with thoughtful appointments. I like the inclusion of the belly cut & this green finish here - I've never seen one coming from Gibson/Epiphone - is downright attractive. 

The SG version is also available. This finish is equally enticing but that green is calling me...
