After listening to Angra, you'd thought Kiko Loureiro was about power metal & all that lightning-fingered fretboard madness but do take time to listen to his other side. He is actually one of the most knowledgeable people to strap on a guitar. I listened to him (Youtube) explain his playing & he left no avenues unaccounted for in terms of theory & playing schematics; he knows exactly what he's doing & why he's doing it. To many of us, technical ability is the highlight of guitar playing often at the expense of music per se. There are people like Kiko who comes along & puts in all in context. He would also be the last person in mind, if you know him through Angra, to be associated with 'fusion' music.
