The no-entry yesterday was the distraction above- my new Fender American Special Stratocaster. I was contemplating a rosewood fretboard initially but I guess I am more accustomed to a maple fretboard Fender.

nice! I have a 2006 American Strat that is butterscotch blonde. predates the Fender American-to-American-Standard revamp/remodel. easiest neck I've ever played. I've always loved strat guitars over Les Paul guitars. don't get me wrong. I don't dislike Les Pauls, I just prefer Strats. The strat shape is just so sexy to me. Must be why I also have two strat-shaped Ibanezes (RGA121 and RG770DX
i prefer Strats/ Teles as well, it's everything to do with the neck feel. Les Pauls are great guitars to own but for me it's not as utilitarian as the aforementioned guitars.

that's the misconception- i am a guitar guy, brand name just happens to be there... :-)
