Came across these 2 forgotten pedals form the Ibanez Sountank series which are really value for money units before the manufacturer introduced the Toneloks. Both pedals suffer from intermittent signal losses due to deteriorated connections, the Powerlead is in need of a new battery clip. The Tubescreamer was bought used from a friend, Marcus, who used to work in a shop/ jamming studio in the Queenstown neighbourhood. The Powerlead was a packaged deal from a former school mate who got married & had assigned his gear into oblivion. I bought his battered Ibanez guitar & the pedal was in the bag, he said it was convenient inclusion.
We know the nature of the Tubescreamer, how it's referred to for its creamy overdrive, the Powerlead is really a distortion, one which functions more productively as a distortion type booster as opposed to a stand alone pedal. Wish they revive the Soundtank series...

I, for one, do not wish they would revive the soundtank line. Every single one I've played has had problems and everyone I've talked to who's played them has complained about the same issues: intermittent power loss, and a switch that doesn't always turn on or off when stepped on. Being unreliable to that degree is unforgivable.
he he... it's for keeps in the mean time.
the reason why it should be revived now IMO- better technology exists to address these issues.
does tonelok also plasticy like these soundtank?
Toneloks sport a metal housing. my take is that, Ibanez got it right with the Toneloks so why go back to these tanks...
hey subversion,
did you ever try the ibanez soundtank delay? its one of the most organic delay pedals i have ever tried but yet i do agree , the build is lousy too , on/off face feels very breakable.
yup, i did try that one. the integral characteristics of that pedal were brought over to the Tonelok version. but at that time, i wasn't into delay... then again, when was i ever into delay? he he :-)
bahaha like old times , yes i recall , gravity had its place and if delay was in the sky , drivers were on the ground beneath your feet :)
i had a DD20 , it was my first pedal but again, there were too many options on offer it was confusing or bluntly distracting.
