ST-72 button

A new pair of Planet Waves strap button's for my Fender ST-72. Take a closer look at the original screw- note the oxidation. Internal components do deteriorate & unlike their external counterparts, we can't see this happening.

i just went to master beez last week.
emergency situation. The screws at the backplate holding the trem unit came off as i tried to screw it in.

It dug out all the wood too. So the master added some toothpicks and screwed it back in, rather strong i must say, but not sure how long it'll last.

that's a simple trick even practiced at the factory- for any loose or ill-fitting screws, a wood filler (sometimes carpentry shavings) like tooth picks for instance, are inserted into the cavity. for a more permanent fix, i use industrial wood filler, it's a toothpaste-like substance which dries up after insertion; this way there's more grip in the cavity. however, if it works- regardless of the method employed- it works :-)
