That mysterious, very unattractive bass highlighted here late last year, is the new Ibanez Grooveline bass. I don't think it'll win any accolades in the design department but the ergonomics are there. The body's offset design is a fusion of what I believe to be the RD & Affirma curves, both are extinct now. The designers' objective is for the Grooveline to epitomize balance so visual attraction takes a back seat here. The bridge is also fresh for an Ibanez bass- the Tight End unit; we've seen them before in the FR & RG1451, though.

why don't they make something that ergonomic yet attractive?
owh, i forgot, they've already made SR series :)
Heh, most of the responses that i read on the internet said the bass is either ugly or unattractive, including you.
As i bassist myself, imho visually, the design is definitely cool or perhaps in other words, "exotic". Perhaps Ibanez won't get to sell this bass as much as the SR, but i would like to own one!
Oh and i think the paul gray memorial ibanez bass is ... ewww. But then again, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!
i object to the bass' looks, but i definitely acknowledged its ergonomics which is the manufacturer's focus with this model. i've yet to try it (it won't be available anytime soon, very fresh this one) so its true worthiness could not be concluded as yet. i don't believe any manufacturer would churn out something unworthy or without an objective in mind.
i guess it's the very opposite of iceman bass (ICB) - looks attracting, but not so ergonomic; longer (in body length, not in scale), heavier, neck dive issue... it take some times to get use to it
speaking of iceman bass, it's "missing" in ibanez website
bro... i'm compiling a list of those 'missing' items, he he...
Ugly....ehh,yes. But it probably sits and hangs well, and sounds great too. Sometimes ergonomics and design don't mesh. SR's are damn sexy though.
the discontinued Affirma wasn't a winner in term of looks either but that was one heck of a bass...
