CC3

New pickup day - Seymour Duncan's TB-11, Custom Custom. This is in fact my third CC in an Ibanez. I got this one used. Seymour Duncan's trembucker models are hard to come by, especially the less popular ones. The popular ones available in the stores here are JB, Distortion & PATB Distortion. The rest are rare sightings but they do make it here from time to time. I just love the spiked treble coming from this pickup, mixing well with an amp's boosted EQ. It's like the polite version of a JB to put it simply. Guitar in question - my Ibanez S570.

Side note - not a good day for the joints. Lately, ankles & knees had been swelling at the end of the day. Cancer side effects, definitely, but more prominent these days.

No go

Dear Ibanez S621QM, you were on my to-get list for this year...

... but since you cost more than the S570BK, you've been struck off my list.

You, S621QM, are a fixed bridge guitar, you should be listing less than your whammy bridge counterpart, the S570BK. What's that? You said you are a 6XX series guitar which is a tier above the 5XX series model? In that case dear S621QM, why is this not reflected in online listings or are you saying it's a peculiar case here? 😶

Project subtraction (6). Reprise...

One of my major consideration was the headstock- to keep or not to keep the finish? I stuck with the original colour to prove a point. If the headstock was black, I know I'd get less mention about it not matching the body. It seems that black is a universally acceptable colour despite it being increasingly mundane.

In fact I chose a white pickup to imply a colour coordination with the headstock. The body colour is a strange colour, it's not really blue, it's not really grey either. It's actually inspired by Tosin Abasi's signature model but I guess I'd never acquire that exact hue unless I really get the colour codes from Ibanez.

Project subtraction (4)

Got my S570 body back with two filled up cavities & a great paint job. The colour was inspired by Tosin Abasi's signature model; a fusion of blue & grey. Off to Beez's soon :-) Wishing everyone a good September ahead.

Ibanez (Standard) 2011

If you are waiting for the new Standard RGs featuring the EZII bridges, they are now in stock at both SV Guitars & Swee Lee. Good news to those of you who are rather particular with an Ibanez neck- the new Wizard III profile feels slimmer than the former Wizard II. However, not all of us are comfortable with thin necks, you go try them out & decide.

Also in store are the 24-fretted S-series. I managed to try the S570 today, somehow, the INF pickups in there sound more acceptable this time round.

What? No price updates? Oh, gee... you can refer/ call the stores to find that out, yes? *SIGH*
