It's Deepavali time again. This means, we are almost at the turn of 2025, the final public holiday for this year. Season's greeting to all Hindu friends & blog readers. Happy long weekend to rest of us.

 

Deepavali '24

Deepavali greetings, dear friends & blog readers. A Thursday holiday would usually entail a strong inertia to return to work the following day. Anyway, it's a good rest day for me, hope it's likewise to you if you are not doing your festive visits. I stayed indoors, managed to re-string a couple of guitars. Happy.

Deepavali '23

Ah... Deepavali long weekend. As I reside quite proximate to the Woodlands Checkpoint, I could hear some fireworks being let off over at Johor Bahru last night (Saturday). It's good to soak in the festive atmosphere as it reminds us of how traditional & religious festivals still play a part in shaping the identity of this country. Have a good, deserving rest, everyone.

Deepavali greetings to Hindu friends & blog readers. We were at Malacca a few years ago during Deepavali & the town was punctuated  with people letting go crackers & mini fireworks. It lasted through the night till early Deepavali morning. Didn't get much sleep but enjoyed the moment. It's another muted & restrained Deepavali this year but knowing it's there & observed is more important.

Midweek break- a deserving breather for the hectic week. There are a few more days to go till the weekend, anticipating a frenzied week ahead. Happy Deepavali to all Hindu blog readers & friends. When I was over at East Malaysia some years ago, they reminded me that the two states there do not observe a public holiday for this occasion. It's a little bewildering that under the same authority, there is a dichotomous treatment due to demographic reasons. If you respect your fellow country men, it should go beyond numbers. Happy holiday to the rest of you out there.
