This was updated yesterday @ Swee Lee's website. If you have checked out what's on the discount list, I understand why you'd rather spend that cash to look for some yummy treats at your neighbourhood's seasonal night market.

If you are a pedal geek, do consider the Ross pedals on discount; I believe this is a fair amount to be paying for the brand name & the tone on offer.

On that note, we are now into the final fews days of (possible) gear acquisitions before prices go up when the year turns.

Swee Lee Year End SALE (2023)

 One last hurrah from Swee Lee before the year ends.

Let's put things in perspective. Suppose I wish to purchase this Fender (Japan) Junior Strat which is currently listed for $1,599. So after the current sale savings, I need to pay $1,549. This guitar only qualifies for $50 discount since it's in the $1K bracket. Considering the price of this guitar was $1,449 before the price hike took place (just before the Black Friday sale), it's actually not a bargain. What if Swee Lee gives a percentage discount instead, let's say 10% off? You would then be paying $1,439 which is slightly lower than its former price tag. I am of the opinion that a percentage discount would be more enticing than block discounts as clearly illustrated above. I hope guitar stores here understand why people prefer spending their money on year-end travels this time as opposed to buying new musical instruments.

Black Friday 2023

Yes, it's that time of the year when buying new gear is on top of everyone's mind. Various deal in town, I'm just highlighting a few here. Sound Alchemy has some combo deals that's worth checking out but these last till Cyber Monday.

Deepavali '23

Ah... Deepavali long weekend. As I reside quite proximate to the Woodlands Checkpoint, I could hear some fireworks being let off over at Johor Bahru last night (Saturday). It's good to soak in the festive atmosphere as it reminds us of how traditional & religious festivals still play a part in shaping the identity of this country. Have a good, deserving rest, everyone.

Ah... the long weekend. A very good day to keep up with guitars & stuff. Hope everyone is in good health & spending good times with family & friends. It's a good thing guitar stores are still open today so that's where I'm heading to after lunch.

Ah... the long weekend is here. Wishing everyone a good, restful break. It's gear catch-up day for us, guitar geeks. 

Charvel 2023

Charvel has released its 2023 Pro-Mod range of guitars. What's the point of buying a Charvel these days? They are Fenders with 'Charvel' on the headstock. Heck, they are even made by Fender. Charvel is now the conduit of spruced up Fenders without upsetting the purists. 

Being someone who scrutinizes price increase in the mean time, I must say that Fender is leading the way; near irrational prices for not much increase in quality / innovation. Of course, this is spilt unto Charvels & Jacksons. No, we are not blind.

2022 had left us. Whatever happened, that chapter is now closed. Wishing everyone a good 2023 as we forge on through uncertain times. On that note, the new chapter begins with a blow as our purchasing power is diminished by the GST hike.
