Filling & moisturizing

These are 2 essentials when it comes to basic guitar maintenance, well, as far as my practices are concerned...

  • IKEA's Skydd wood mineral oil: Beez & I are currently using this fluid to treat open-pore wood eg: rosewood. The fact that it's a safe fluid to be having at home is a plus, especially so when I have a daughter here who always handles my equipment.
  • Elmer's Wood Filler: If you screw-unscrew cavity covers, pickguards, truss rod covers, etc. repeatedly, the screw thread might wear out the cavity grooves & ill fitting (loose) will entail. The convenient remedy would be to insert some matchstick bits in there but upon unscrewing, the loose bits will not get undone & the screw remains in the cavity despite you turning it repeatedly. I'd apply the filler sparingly, it's not my intention to plug the hole entirely, just line it against the cavity wall & let it dry, preferably overnight.
