If you are the type who believe in maintaining your guitar yourself - because only you understand how your guitar should be, regardless of what everyone else has to say - you might be experiencing a tight neck fit in the body's guitar pocket cavity. Please avoid sanding down the neck heel surface to address this issue. This should be done as a last resort. If you over do it, you might end up with a loose fit which invites post-attachment movements & further alignment complications.
Apply some talcum powder onto the surfaces that come into contact with the neck pocket walls as depicted above (apply onto the other side as well, of course). Chances are, this will facilitate insertion. Are there any powder brands that I recommend for this procedure? 😅 Avoid coarse grained talcum powder, everything else is fine.
