Take ORM

It's a lethargic holiday afternoon, I'm just back from lunch. Switched on the TV while laying slumped on the couch, watching TAKE THAT- how Robbie got back into the band & them recording The Flood, all in monochrome.

However, it's interesting to see an Ibanez ORM in one of their practice spaces.

Take That: Progress

Ah... Robbie Williams is back in the Take That line-up so the hopefuls out there would be expecting a rewarding come-back of sorts from these Brit Boys. But none of the original Take That vibrancy was ever resurrected since the Robbie-less release, Beautiful World, took shape in 2006. It's no different this time round either, the original Take That line-up continues to churn out melancholic numbers. The radio is currently playing 'Flood' & it may well be the strongest single from this release in terms of pop-sensibilities but it's a reminder of what was lost with Take That, not the start of a new chapter. This is an unappealing release, to say the least.

Take That: The Ultimate Tour

I own one of Take That's compilation album which features a live track from their Manchester Tour. I heard a backing band in there so the chances of seeing live musicians performing in a DVD offering is real.

True enough, there's a live line-up of very competent musicians, Lee Pomeroy (bass) & Milton McDonald (guitar) among others; the extended solos in the selected songs are reflective of the musician's capacity- great, to say the least.

Everybody- Take That (& shred)!

Ok, here's my occupation for the last few days or so: I've been listening to Take That. No, I'm not a big fan of theirs; I'm into the music. Why?

The songs here are guitar devoid, well, there are bits in some songs but generally, they are synth laden. If you think you are that great with your guitar (because it strokes your ego), attempt to fill in some guitar phrases in any of the songs. So you are not that great after all, yes?

There are too many of us who think we are good but given something non-staple to play along, we are probably fumbling fools in disguise.
