 These two 70th Anniversary Strats are on discount at Swee Lee:

• American Pro II (20% off): This was released slightly before Summer. Reality check - Strat fans are not into fancy tops, the flame maple top depicted here is an example. Strat fans are into solid body colours, if there's any hint of favouring a fancy finish then the sunburst might be the limit. This guitar used to list for more than $3K so the price - finish combo is making this one a non-mover
• Vintera II Antigua Strat (20% off): This is another quirky finish that would be appealing to a niche sector which is not a ready pool of buyers anywhere. You either know the history behind this one & appreciate it for what it is or you look away. Another hard seller that listed for $2.4K initially, sports a fixed bridge & not an American (at this price). A very difficult proposition as well.

Katana discounts

These Katana amps are on discounts at Swee Lee. Katana are good amps, especially for the practicing musicians who would wanna focus on playing instead of tweaking knobs to find that perfect tone before everything starts. Anyway, I'm of the opinion that prices could be lower for the heads. Chances are a cab is required for these & players new to the scene are not prepared / willing to fork out more for an initial amp purchase. Either that or offer generous discounts for stand alone cabs to complement the purchase. Just saying. Offer ends 31 May.

PRS discounts

Heads up, folks - some discounts for you if PRS guitars are your thing. This had been going on for a few days already & I'm a little late in noticing. 

Selected PRS models are offered at reduced prices (price listed have been discounted). If you notice, big music stores (USA) are having some good discounts for their PRSes; Guitar Center, Musicians Friend, Sweetwater, etc. so it's good to know Davis GMC has some discounts for us this time of the year. Of course, the stores here have no obligations to keep up with what's taking place state-side.

Robot- slashed

Finally, someone's trying to make sense of the robot tuners (aka G-Force) Gibson models, price-wise. I consider them as trashy (battery operated + adds substantially to weight- unforgivable neck dive) however well-made they had been. The fact that it's the 2015 batch of instruments, well-made is a consideration very far from the Gibson reality. Looking at the figures, even a 30% cut in prices isn't attractive enough. Keep in mind that the 2015 batch of robot tuners were very prone to break down. I'm not trying to injure any distributor's salvage operations, in any case, it's a good move considering the fact that the Curleigh era models are purging the Gibson line up, this is the least that should be done. 

More importantly, to my fellow consumers out there, if you are into Gibson, we have other worthy models to choose from sporting a more worthy price tag.

Deep discount

In the mean time, the price for this E-II ST-2 is currently at a 40% discount, online. It was good enticement but I've decided to purchase something else. 

I'm keeping watch on prices. I'm not one who buy guitars readily from online sources but I'm gonna go the online way for a more worthy consideration. It doesn't make sense to be compelled by domestic prices when somewhere out there, better bargains could be had. The only risk here is that of playability pertaining to QC. Should you receive a lemon, it' rather cumbersome to return the product & mitigate damages. My take is this; if there is a custom option for online purchases, go for it. Chances are, the people handling your custom order offer a more personal QC than the standard production line.
