TEJ

After some digging, I found out this is a Fernandes TEJ-75 model. I am the third owner of this guitar, the second owner had scant info that he gladly shared with me. The body's previous finish was stripped down & re-finished with what looked like a gold top. There were numerous scratches on the guitar body so I gladly re-finished it in blue with a light glitter coat.

Here are the scratches, evidently, I didn't use a filler before applying the blue coat. This was intentional because I used whatever colours I have in the mean time, I obviously did not have any fillers 😅 The glitter coat was meant for another guitar but it made its debut here. The pickups in there are DiMarzio Distortion S models. Was told the previous pickups were active units but I am not a fan. I prefer angry passive pickups.

Will continue to use Olympia strings as long as they are still available. 

Fernandes: No more

The Fernandes Co. Ltd (Toda City, Japan) has ceased operations WEF 11 July. It is currently undergoing bankruptcy procedures, handling debts up to USD2,7mil. Sale slump was attributed to a robust second hand market & intense competition. Monday blues fodder indeed.

Ramon's revolver

I'm a no-frills-guitar advocate, no doubt, but there are just some 'extra fittings' guitars that I look up to. Here is a Fernandes Ramon Ortiz 7-string signature model & it just kills (OK, maybe the amp played a part too...). Listen to this:

Scimitar

This Fernandes Vortex was co-designed by Melechesh's guitarist, Ashmedi- it's called the Scimitar. I'm absolutely for simplicity & this is as simple as it gets- single pickup + fixed bridge. However, the extra 6 strings in there means it's well intended for a certain outcome, not for simpletons with pathetic adversity quotient, definitely not.

Synyster Custom-S

The new Schecter Synyster Gates Custom-S to appear early 2012, most probably, it'll feature in the Winter Namm line-up. This guitar has a strong following by virtue of its endorser's reputation because we all know that the outline isn't the most conventional & 'attractive'...

The difference in this model is definitely the (Fernandes) Suatainiac system but be informed that you can purchase this separately & have it installed in your guitar.
