S2 ver 2024

Folks, the new (ver 2024) PRS S2 Custom 24 is now available at Swee Lee. New here refers to the fact that the S2 range is now a full American, ie. all parts are made in the USA. The S2's Previous iteration has non-American pickups & electronic components. Of course, there's a price revision in the midst of all this - $2,799 (previously $2,699).

S2 10th

PRS' S2 Series celebrates its 10th Anniversary this year (yes, it's a decade already), these two models are commemorative iterations. The one you see above is the Custom 24.

This here is the McCarty 594. I didn't see any significant difference from the non-anniversary version less the American made pickups. There will only be 1,000 units made for each model. Expect limited quantities to come by but since there are two PRS dealers here, there's a good chance you could get one if you are keen.

Head's up! New PRSes are in @ Davis GMC. One of them is this gorgeous S2 35th Anniversary Custom 24. It's definitely a limited edition model & no more will make their way here, just these ones so if you are indeed waiting anxiously for one, it's now available in store.

SE South

PRS had stated time & again they won't make left-handed guitars but this proved otherwise- the SE Custom 24. This instrument will be available soon so it's good news to you lefties especially so when the manufacturer had brought up the standards for their SE models come 2018.

PRS SE: 30th Anniversary Custom 24

PRS celebrates its 30th anniversary by releasing some commemorative models & this Custom 24 SE version is one of them. I have utmost respect for this brand name, had been following them for a while & this is another reason to look up to the good people there- they don't compromise even if it's a selection from their more affordable take. That quilt top there is simply stunning. If it does make its way here, be sure you check it out.

Recommendation: PRS SE Custom 24 7-string

You've been wanting a 7-string but you just can't find something commanding yet elegant. Maybe the PRS SE Custom 24 7-string (let's call it the 247)  might be it. I was checking it out a few days ago & the most significant detail pertaining to tone here is the guitar's 25" scale length. Drive-wise, it's the best of both worlds. Sitting in between an LP low end punch & a Strat's clarity, the 247 is something to be happy with. The neck profile is a wide-thin make, not to be confused with the Ibanez thin profile, of course. In any case, the neck is a finished affair very much in the Gibson territory. The 247 is capable of other impressive tones as well, I'll leave you with this clip for the convincing bits (oh, yes... I'm impressed with the cleans too) :
