New Holcomb

Mark Holcomb's new signature model sports a 25.5" scale length. So this makes it one of the few guitars which are not conforming to PRS' preferred 25" default scale length. For those who are interested, be informed that the fretboard radius here is 20" so it would appeal to those super-strat type players as opposed to those in the vintage camp.

An interesting release - Scarlet (n) & Scourge (b). Honestly, I'm not into Periphery but I love Mark Holcomb's Alpha & Omega after trying them out in one of my Ibanez guitars. Seeing these pickups dedicated to 7-string means Seymour Duncan had successfully made a name for themselves or at the very least, created an impression based on what worked before. Also, good to see these pickups come covered but this would mean it's not a guaranteed fit for pickguard mounting so keep that in mind, please.

The blues

Was at Beez's earlier today to get this done. My Ibanez RG521 now sports a pair of Seymour Duncan humbuckers: Alpha (n)/ Omega (b). These are available at Davis GMC/ 35 GA. 

Just to be clear, I'm not a Periphery fan, not into Mark Holcomb either so the Alpha/ Omega purchase wasn't about trying to sound like anyone in particular. Unlike signature guitars, I'm OK with putting good money into signature pickups. Through my set up, I sound nothing like the endorser's tone. Since my tonal expedition with George Lynch's Screaming Demon humbucker, I know better than dismissing pickups by virtue of their endorser association. Still in testing mode, will update the sonic performance soon. 😁
