Loop like a BOSS

Two interesting releases by BOSS late this year, the first of which is this RC-505MKII. For indoor, desktop geeks, this is a high. I believe this is aimed at the production enthusiasts as the features on board include vocal editing as well so it's not tied down to just guitar / bass.

The live junkies will thrive on the RC-600. There's a new feature that allows post-loop editing so that should keep people engaged. The only downside to this is its size; it's virtually the real estate for a pedal board. Smart releases by BOSS for the indoor & outdoor escapists among us. I really need to look into getting a new looping unit maybe before the year ends. Of course, it's down to how much financial recovery is possible after settling chemo bills.

Malaysian loop

I was checking this out recently...

... found out that it's manufactured nearby 😁 Requesting my Malaysian blog readers to help me check the in-store price, is it as competitive as the international prices?

The good seed

A relatively new one by Joyo, a digital delay unit called the D-Seed II. So it has a loop function for all you song-writing people to mess with. More importantly, after conversion (sans shipping charges), it's less than SGD100. That's a serious proposition right there, based on price alone. Can't convince you much on performance but this video clip can:

Electro Harmonix: Nano Looper 360

So going mini with looping technology is the in thing now. Electro-harmonix is running the race, here's the Nano Looper 360. As the name implies, there's 360min worth of total recording time assignable to 11 banks for your recall pleasure. A single footswitch here means it's a record-dub-stop affair, a standard feature in many other looping pedals of this nature. So the manufacturer says it's able to run on a 9V battery but the pedal comes with its own adapter. Something to check out before the year ends, yes?

Hotone: Wally looper

Hotone, the name that gives you some of the little-est pedals around, has a new one- the Wally. It's a looping unit & it's as simple as it looks. Wally records your guitar phrases, enabling you to layer as many tracks as you wish subject to the internal memory's capacity (up to 15min of recording time). The controls are functional & it offers a down-tempo knob, slowing or speeding up your playing. In use, the Wally is responsive but at this size, one really has to strap it down to a board, just placing it there isn't good enough. I've no other negative highlights in this aspect other than the fact that any tempo adjustments would entail a change in pitch. If it's your first time dealing with a Hotone, be informed that they don't do batteries. Recommended for those of us who wants to keep things simple & portable.
