Highway star

The new Fender Highway acoustics are now available at Swee Lee - that was fast! The ideal availability update is of course on the actual launch day but we are grateful nevertheless. Folks, the mahogany top versions would be available at a later date.

Also in stock - the EVH Star models. Everything enticing less the price. Just me.

Star

This is a rather recent release by EVH; the single pickup Limited Edition Star. I like everything about this one less the kill switch.

Of course, about a decade ago, Charvel had a very affordable single pickup, star type guitar going in their Desolation Series (China). Yes, the star design had always been a Charvel thing. A pity these were discontinued. A revival in the EVH iteration would mean paying more for the name.

Bass: Coronado/ Starcaster

As you can see here, Fender re-issued the Coronado & Starplayer Star Wars Starbucks Starcaster basses as well. I find the Starcaster headstock less repulsive compared to the guitar version.

Star notes

Folowing Charvel's Star-guitar reval, I'm gald the manufacturer decided to incorporate that pointy headstock design instead of the Strat-type version seen above. The Star stated out with that deign but...

... made way for the pointy headstock subsequently. Even the single humbucker feature was retained in today's design.

Charvel 2012: Desolation Star

This is the other Charvel revival for 2012; the Star model, still under the Desolation Series offerings.

But we know Gus G has a certain liking for this body outline.
