Jett 339

Joan Jett's new signature Gibson is ES-339-based. I'm featuring this guitar in today's entry because it's one of the rare occasion that the smaller bodied ES type guitar is favoured over the esteemed ES-335. The implication here is, a solid body guitar is sometimes unnecessary to deliver rock tones & semis are not exclusive to jazz. This is a cool one, Gibson.

Ultra semi

Hi there Ultra geeks. Yes, you who are in love with the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra (regardless of its manifestations). But be informed that the 'Ultra' there isn't exclusive any more. The manufacturer has now deemed it a transferable technology, hence the Ultra 339 you see above. It sports the same set of Ultra electronics- NanoMag pickup/ rear body controls/ output jacks, the works. So now we have another Ultra family member, not just the Les Paul.

In 2007, Gibson released the ES-339, pictured above, a smaller bodied semi-hollow guitar with a scaled-down body size.

The 339 is now manifested as an Epiphone version. In addition to the smaller body, the guitar features a slim-tapered neck profile as sell as some push-pull coil split switches.
