KX600

Neil Zaza's back with Cort. This KX600 is his doing. It's a simple design with delivery in mind. Pickups are Fishman Fluence Modern humbuckers & we hope there would be passive options along the way. If only that headstock finish matches the body. Also, those inlays are too big for some of us. Anyway, looks aside, this guitar was conceived to not get in your way of achieving great tones & maximum playability.

Zaza picking

It's a good Friday when the stuff you least expected just popped into the mail box. I ordered the V-Pick Neil Zaza pick about ten days ago. International delivery was free, so why not. I've always been a fan of grooved picks. In this case, the holes there are my favourite kind of indentation that promote grip. To me, a good grip is essential considering the intensity of my picking. The 2.75mm thickness was the other gratifying consideration. I prefer a 3mm pick or thicker but under certain configurations (materials, shape, etc.), shaving a little off the preference works as well. The only aversion in this case is the width; I play better with something a little wider to the grip.

Neil picking

Neil Zaza has a signature pick going & he trusted the V-Picks camp to do the bidding. This is indeed signs of heading into the right direction for both parties; for Neil Zaza acquiring his preferred implement to further articulate his playing & for V-Picks as an affirmation of genuine conviction. On my to-get list, definitely. 👍

I'm definitely alright

It was a wet & sombre Tuesday night. The venue doors opened at 7.30pm but the show started just slightly before 9.00pm so many of us were wondering what really happened. Whatever that was about, it's Neil Zaza playing & it was worth the wait. Anyway, that delay time was used as a 'meet-&-greet' session so it was a good segue to the performance proper.

Neill Zaza had a simple set up going, his Kiesel guitar, Ax FX & a small pedal board line-up with small pedals (Hotone). The overall sound projection was fine but I'm against mic'ing up the drum set for such a small venue- it overpowered everything else on occasions.

Mr. Zaza's melodics- top notch. It's a lesson for all guitar dweebs to have some melodic inclinations instead of just introverted shredding; it differentiates musicianship from technical excess. Performance highlight- cover version of AHA's Take on Me.

Carvin: NZ624

Carvin has officially released the Neil Zaza signature guitar, seen here is the NZ624. It's not a ground-up design, the guitar took the CT624 & gave it a signature whiff. Designs from Carvin are nothing short of stunning & that's just the looks. Do take time to listen to Mr. Alright himself:

The cat album

This is the upcoming Neil Zaza album, I'm sure we are all fans of his music after listening to what he could do with the instrument. I was reading about this update on my way to work this morning & coincidentally, was bending down to pet a stray cat when I saw this pic. Good omen?
