Ibanez 2025 (2)

The disrespect for the S-Series continues this 2025 with no new model offered. This SML721 was listed as new but we know 'new' here refers to the colour. The SML721 had been around since 2023.

Fiore blue

No new Fiore this 2022. It's still 'new' anyway so PRS gave it a new colour - Larkspur blue. 

Blue eve

Had been playing the blue one this New Year's Eve - wet weather since morning. Indoors & feeling blue. The simple genius of Kiesel is manifested in this Type X; it's more manageable in terms of handling. Make it smaller & headless - simple formula. 

That's right, blue selector tip & volume knob for this one. That see-through blue pick is a Northern Ghost Cloud model. Notice it has lots of grip space which tapers to a pointed tip. Darn good for super fast riffing as it helps you move quickly across strings. I have a thing for picks because they contribute to playing efficiency. I urge you to explore the different picks available out there, especially those not offered by the stores here. These are relatively affordable investments to fine tune your playing finesse.

Tuesday blues

Had some time to kill today before treatment. Finally managed to blue all plastic parts for my Ibanez RG521 & gave it a fresh set of strings while I'm at it. It took me this long to realize that the pickups were too close to the strings. Since day one, I've been adhering to the Ibanez factory settings but the oversight here was that the output of the pickups should be taken into consideration. So both pickups were lowered into the cavity, not too much, just to eliminate wolf tones. This refers to the sound of the pickups fuzzing out while in distortion mode. FYI those are Seymour Duncan's Alpha - Omega set. 

DuRability

I somehow knew I had this lying around in the house somehow. I bought colour variations to match some guitars but this blue one was (again) stashed away in a guitar bag somewhere & forgotten. In fact, it's now discovered about a year later. OK so the strings were coated to begin with & upon opening the pack, everything was as good as new. My GRGR010 happened to require a fresh set so it now has a proud blue set to see things through. I have ceased buying DR colour coated sets as I simply do not see the need for them in the mean time but I still buy the 10.5 set & occasionally, the flatwounds. You can get DRs at Davis GMC. 

PF blue

My immediate acoustic guitar 'upgrade' years ago was an Ibanez PF. Back then I didn't know nuts about acoustic guitars & thought the Ibanez name on the headstock would prove some potency in terms of quality & tone. More importantly, the guitar wasn't costly & proved to be a very comfortable player neck-wise. Ibanez still makes the PF range to be affordable instruments & today it comes in this cool blue finish (seen above: PF18) for daring players who believe in being seen. Definitely a no-frills instrument in terms of features, something worthy in the $250 price bracket.

The yellow fellow (1)

This isn't a fresh catch, it's my Jackson DKMGT.

This isn't a new guitar either, it's the above DKMGT now in yellow. It was re-finished last year, towards the close of 2012 but was missing some spares. It's now completely revived a deserve a shot. What made me re-finish this one? To be cont'd...

Red-Blue-Red-Blue...

Beez did a cool thing with his Marshall ZW Micro Stack- he modded the power indicator light to blink red & blue throughout play. This does nothing to tone, of course, but it makes you seen. SO all you attention seeking dweebs, this one's for you...
