Brute XS

I was at Ebenex some days ago to say hi to David (owner), I have not been to the new store space at #04 of Bras Basah Complex. Previously when I walked past, they were busy trying to settle themselves down... Anyway, I got myself the (EWS) Little Brute Drive, you can see how little it is- slightly taller than Plum Pudding. It's definitely my kind of drive, great as a stand alone unit (quite a wide drive sweep on offer), definitely above average as a booster unit.

Wish it was back: Schecter 006 Deluxe

Schecter's 006 Deluxe was a simple guitar, much in the veins of the current Omen series; well-made & very affordable. In fact, it used to list for less than $300 when I tried it at Ebenex years ago. Back then, Ebenex was located at Roxy Square II, Beez was still the employee there. The body outline is preserved till this day & manifested as the Stargazer model but I'm rather thankful Schecter has the Omen range to perpetuate the 006's good vibes. Wish it was back...

Guyatone: OD2+

The OD2+ is Guyatone's improved (not that the preceding model was dud to beign with) version of the OD2, a simple overdrive unit with lots of character but now offering 3 voicings (vis the flick switch activation):
  • Shallow: Clean/ very mild drive
  • Middle: Traditional drive
  • Deep: Saturated drive

Despite the 3 modes, the OD2+ remains to be a mild driver in the likes of Ibanez's TS9 but the Deep channel offers the user a grittier drive, which I believe would give Maxxon's OD808 some competition. There is now a tone control for those of us who need more EQ shaping but the sweep isn't too wide to manifest a drastic change in voicing.

PS: Thank you Ebenex for the great service!
