Stick 'em up!

Some people said I've desecrated my guitars with undeserving stickers...

• These are my guitars so exercizing some creative liberties are within my discretion
• If I feel better with external implements on my guitar, then everything else does not matter
• These stickers were done on pickguards which are replaceable when the need arises
• I have some guitars to spare when it comes to manifesting artistic considerations, so why not

Bottom line - others need not go with your flow. Whatever makes you happy.

Someone asked me if the pickguard was custom-designed. Answer: No. It's a DIY thing starting with a blank pickguard for a lone humbucker. 

Then came the stickers - $3 for 50 pieces. I like these stickers as they are waterproof so the top layer won't peel off easily when it comes into contact with moisture. In this case it's sweat from the hand.

A lot of patience went into trimming the pickguard edges. A very sharp blade is required otherwise the edges would fray.

New guard

Nothing major here, just a new pickguard for my LP Deluxe. It's the Allparts version because ironically, the Gibson version has a misaligned screw hole (near the neck pickup). 😶

Budget compromise

This is a Gibson guitar. It is an economical model & does not feature a separate input jack, it's incorporated into the pickguard. Many of us will just yank the cable off but because it's mounted this way, we are actually pulling the pickguard away from the body as well. The restrain here are the screws. Done repeatedly, it'll warp the pickguard. So the proper way to unplug is to actually press the pickguard down while pulling the cable away which many of us aren't used to doing. So, there. 

You are what you instal

Saw this guitar being offered in the after-market. Note the compromised pickguard; an additional hole was drilled to accommodate the replacement humbucker. If you are diligent enough to read up on stuff before you commit to purchase, this won't happen. Seymour Duncan offers 2 versions of their production pickups, the standard & trembucker. The former is denoted by an SH abbreviation prior to the assigned model number (eg: Duncan Distortion = SH-6), the latter a TB abbreviation (eg: Duncan Distortion = TB-6). In addition to the slightly wider pole pieces spacing to accommodate the Fender bridge, the TB models feature 3 holes on the mounting bracket should you need to have one fixed into a Fender pickguard. 

But the darn thing still works, there's still sound coming out from the speakers! Yes, you're right but it shows the type of owner you are & how much commitment you put into product knowledge. Such anomaly invites the potential buyer to further negotiate the deal price, do keep this in mind. 

Subtle protection

I've been strumming more lately so the beloved Takamine gets a removable pickguard. This is a subtle addition to ensure the longevity of my instrument. The things you do for your possessions define you.
