hey sub, do you have any recommendations for flangers?

Saw the Gus G model yesterday. Nice graphics...

If only Gus's LP sports a flamed top, minus the graphics, it'll be a wow for me.

then it'll be the regular eclipse :-)

flangers- what are your expectations/ budget?

oh i'm looking for a flanger that works well driven rather than only clean. it should also be capable of a near wah-like sound. budgetwise, i'm looking at the low 200s maximum. was really interested in the ibanez airplane flanger, but it's pretty rare/expensive locally. thanks sub!

bro- before i go on, are you considering envelope filters as well?

nope, not really. just a simple flanger.

some affordable flangers i'd come across/ used/ would recommend:

1. Ibanez CF7: very affordable, much clarity

2. Marshall Regenerator: it's a compact modulation unit, not just mere flanger

3. MXR M117R: if i remember correctly, it's >$200 so might not be in your league but the effect range on offer here is rather impressive, look out for used units if you are keen

4. EHX Flanger Hoax: i feel this is the standard to beat when it comes to fun-flanging without the tone compromise. the fact that the FH includes other modulations in the mix, there is a very convincing wah overtones as well so this is the perfect match for your needs... but the most costly on this list. it's less decorated sibling, the Electric Mistriss should also be considered as it has that filter feature which would contribute to the pseudo-wah effect.

peace bro :-)

thanks sub! i was already looking at the marshall and mxr. any comments on the modtone and biyang interpretations? i'm going to use it much like how paul gilbert used flangers/phasers to give off that brian may vibe on his recent albums.

i find the modtone & biyang interpretations are reasonably decent but the width of the flange per se could have been better. you can also check out Biyang's FL-100 but electro harmonics is the standard to beat :-)
