Before I got down to buying my Cort X-3 yesterday, I was still looking at the Ibanez GIOs. This time, I moved away from the GART series, I managed to try the GAX30 depicted above. It seems that even this guitar feels & sounds good for the money- $374.90 (list). The conclusion would be that the Indonesian craftsmanship is now a proven improvement. Except that the GAX30 is not made in Indonesia; made in China. Be informed that the current batch of GIOs are Chinese, including the GART80EX. This might explain why they cost more than an Indonesian product.

my ex-GAX010LTD was a variant of GAX30, same shape, same feel, same pickup (no pickguard) and made in indonesia
good for starter who wants ibanez quality yet differ from GRG/GRX series
might re-buy it again next time (if still available)
your GAX was special addition... it even FELT & SOUNDED special compared to the regular offerings :-)
china is the new japan
he he... :-) i belive nobody is the new anyobdy. they are good because they are good but due recognition does not happen...
The GAX body shape isn't friendly when you play it seated on your lap. The unbalance feels bad. The lower horn area is too little to rest well on our lap. Speaking from experience. Definitely avoiding such design.
+1 to balance issue when sitting down.
Bro, anymore "good" gio's review? Gio's can't be that bad right? Is it right to say, they're on the same league as Epi by Gibson, Squire by Fender, ltd by esp, smash by swing etc? Irregardless of the "made in ...".
that's right bro, GIOs are ibanez's lower tier offerings which other brand names would delegate to their sister brands. currently, the manufacturer doesn't alleviate the GIOs to a 'super' status unlike LTD's Deluxe models which are top of the line guitars. so if we are trying to find he Deluxe equivalent in the GIO range there isn't any to be had :-)
but the current GART models are indeed impressive. the last likable GIO for me was the GSZ which had been discontinued.
