Yamaha makes motorcycles, engines for boats, pianos, wind instruments, guitars, basses &... earphones.
My earphones gave way recently so I decided to give the above Yamaha earphones a try. Firtsly, the above product was misrepresented by the packaging & details. The sleeve said the earphones are the asymmetrical type but they are not- they are the stethoscope type which I detest. The manufacturer also promises some of the best concert-grade (whatever this means) audios in your ears with enhanced bass responses but what I hear is the expansion of the background audio leaving the guitar be a thin participant of the music. Thumbs down.

havent been many headphones that impress me. while i'm not bothered as to whether the wires are symmetrical or stethoscope, most in-ear headsets i've had experience with in the past either have very clear trebble or exceptional bass response, but not both. luckily my current one has decent amount of trebble while not sacrificing on the bass side haha
I am still loyal to my Audio Technicas. =)

For noise-isolating earphones (most common):
Klipsch Image S4 - Strong bassy feel, good mids, a little lacking in the higher end. Comes with several different sized eartips for a more comfortable fit = $120
Ultimate Ears 700 - Excellent highs, great mids with a weak but well-defined bass. Comes with different sized eartips too, but in more sizes than the S4. It also comes with 2 pairs of foam eartips for enhanced noise isolation = $189 to $200
Soundmagic PL50 - Average all around, budget noise-isolating earphones with different sized eartips, nice set of accesories included = $90
For headphones:
Sennheiser HD238 - Excellent bass and mids, above average highs. Some modification is necessary to bring out the full potential of these pair of cans = $150
Studio headphones:
AKG K701 - Reference-class studio headphones. Totally trashes the monster beats headphones we see so much of nowadays (although they're not exactly in the same weiht class). Excellent all around, the detail is legendary and is the industry standard = $599
To bring out the full potential of the headphones mentioned above (especially headphones and studio headphones), you will need to get a headphone amp haha. You can try getting them from this guy.

My audio technica ckm55 has very good bass and treble reponses while not putting the mids down. How do I put it.. sweet spot.

Agreed. Beats are hardly worth the money. My modified HD238s has them for breakfast with toast daily. It's become more of a fashion accessory than anything IMO.
It is pretty much up to individual preferences though. Perhaps some people just tend towards the overwhelming (and muddy) bass of the Beats series. I dunno.
That's why it's best to actually audition them 1st. I suggest Jaben. Friendly staff, excellent service.
The store is on the top floor of Adelphi and just next to Funan too. The store is pretty quiet, so it makes for an excellent listening experience with little interference in the way of ambient sounds.

Trust me, true audio bliss can be found in the k701s.
Alternatively, you can try getting the HD238s and modify them by placing a layer of aluminium foil in the headphones itself. It doesn't void the 2-year warranty too, so it's all good. Some say the audio quality is comparable to the k701s
Well, I still don't trust paying 600 for headphones/ear plugs.
if i can hear what i wanna hear, with the bare minimum, i'd save the extra costs for maybe another guitar
