Ibanez 2020 (5)

I thought there would be no more interest from Ibanez in creating a simple no-frills RG after the RG321M but here we have the RG421M for 2020. It's pickguard-free so no hidden cavity, just a HH routing & that sparkle finish with a matching headstock looks fine.

This year, there's also an extended scale model outside the RGD range - the RGIB21. The active pickups there is a good inclusion as these promote more clarity in the lower frequencies which many of us fail to understand until we play in a band context. The fact that those are EMG implies that Fluence is not about to dominate the active electronics for Ibanez guitars.

This pretty much is the winner among the RGs for 2020; a simple, fixed bridge model, passive pickups & lots of mojo from a reverse headstock - RGR5221. Good to know those are steel frets & in my opinion, the Prestige range should have them as a standard feature.Orange is good.
