Edwards: Price truth

Yes, it's another shot of my Edwards E-MA-100SD/QM but this is the price tag which I've left in tact at the control cavity cover.

So the MSRP for this guitar is Y105K, in SGD it would be $1,675.88 (as at today's exchange rate). Previously, Davis tagged the E-MA models for $1.3k which is a very fair price but the latest shipment saw a drop to $990...

I recently bought this guitar- do I need another guitar? No I don't but I saw a good bargain which I couldn't put away, I guess that's me- weak willed when it comes to a good guitars with an exceptional price tags. I saw a bargain more than anything else so it was a confirmed purchase.

Many of us walked into Davis GMC & then left empty handed after discovering there were no further discounts for any of the items there but we need to check if those prices are indeed fair or bordering on the ridiculous. I have to give them my thumbs-up for price considerations.

Bro Chermin:
1.What are in your guitar now?
2.What's your guitar's body wood?
3.What kind of bridge is in there?

Thanks for the reply sub!

1. the stock pickups are still in

Caparison SH-27F
Caparison BH-IIR

ive found that they are lacking that extra 'bite' they handle gain well, but it somehow lacking.

the neck pickup is especially disappointing, very thin sounding and lacking the typical neck pickup smoothness ( ive heard some said its because of the 27 frets though)

2. Mahagony body

3.Schaller S-FRT II

thanks again!

hey bro :-)

the common solution to this situation is to get some high output pickups & believe that'd do the job but i've been there & it's not a sure way out.

i kinda find it difficult to understand how 27 frets would, by default, affect the pickup performance but there is proof to show that pickup placement affects performance. since you can't move the neck pickup, the next consideration would naturally be- as you've planned to do- do a pickup swap.

the neck situation is a little tricky as a replacement won't guarantee anything because the new pickup has to adapt to the slanted position. my take is for you to start off with moderate output pickups like Duncan's Cool Rails or Little '59. a slant here means pickups with pole-pieces won't guarantee a string-pole alignment.

for the bridge humbucker, we often forget that there is a need to consider/ offset the fact that locking, dual-action whammy bridges (Floyd Rose & its derivatives) suck some low end response from a guitar's natural resonance. be mindful of this & you won't go wrong. in the Duncan realm, i'd recommend you check out the PATB-3, Blues Saraceno humbucker. this one's tailored for a thumping bottom end response while not forgetting the drive/ distortion application. the other worthy contender would be Bill Lawrence's XL500.

do you have anything else in mind? :-)

Thanks for the reply bro.

Initially I was considering the patb-2 and a lil 59 or hot stack pairing, now upon your consultation I guess I have much more research to do haha. Again I am cynical about the patb-3 not being hot enough because I wanna sound drop dead brutal haha

What about dimarzios? Any pairings to recommend?

I guess this months NSF pay will be put to good use, my caparison deserves a long awaited upgrade.

bro- beore i poceed further, do you have any considerations to go active?

Bro sub,

i've considered the blackouts, but they're probably my last resort.

sure the blackouts will sound outstanding driven, but the sterility of the cleans, im not too sure if i can compromise this.
