Tube cleans + trusty distortion = best

These two friends are currently very impressive implements: Sound Drive's Tube 7 head & Biyang's Metal End King. It seems that, for a spectacular distorted output to happen, tube cleans would
complement your preferred distortion unit. This is NOT the case when one employs a tube equipped pedal through a solidstate amp.

hi Charlie, the Tube 7 retails for $299 @ Standard Value. i only bought the head, there's a matching cab for it (1x8" $180).

scroll down to my older entries to see how big it actually is (compared to my SG612R head).

I'm partially inclined to think that the Tube 7 is the possible reason for selling off your Epi VJ, heh.

the TUBE 7 is not an excessively superior tone generator compared to the Epi VJ but due to its very portable size, easy access to tubes & the boost feature, i prefer it over the VJ.

you might see me lugging it around :-)

Boost feature activated by pedals?

Any inherent problems with the head? (excessive humming etc. inherent in certain versions of the EVJ)

I noticed that it only has a 8ohm speaker output, and speaker input, in that case wouldn't the EVJ be a better choice? (cab versatility)

How is it superior? In terms of cleans?

*ps. sorry didn't put it together as one post, was distracted... haha...

the Tube7 was conceived to complement the cab- has only one 8ohm access, i believe the manufacturer is trying to limit options to their brand name cabs but if you invest in 4x12 extensions, majority of them offer multiple options in this aspect.

superior? tone-wise maybe because the Tube7 is equipped with RUBY tubes by default, these possess a certain tonal liking but IMO it's not excessive. also, the Tube7 has the 2-band EQ as well as the BOOST option to alter certain voicings.

inherent problems- none to report thusfar :-)
