Kelly's make-over

What's done today:
  • new humbuckers installed: TESLA Plasma II
  • modified 3-way switch- Jackson had it, by default, activating the bridge pickup when it points neck-wards. I simply asked Beez to reverse this so now it's 'normal'

Hi there,

I am looking into a 2nd guitar, was aiming for Rally GL-300, but the Kelly's shape got me interested, is there a difference in tone between the 2 guitars?

Cheers!

yes there are, it's very much a bolt-on (Kelly) vs a set-neck (GL) tonalities we are looking at. this also implies the differences in playability & overall feel (GL sports a finished neck).

if you care more for tone, the GL would be a pleasant surprise (sounds superb clean & driven). the Kelly does well driven but not much appealing clean (it's the pickups Jackson offer), as you can see, i did away with mine...

try both guitars, go with the one which appeals to you, ignore brand name & the general outline :-)
