New wave

If you've come across the Ibanez SW bass amps, you'd know they are some of the best value-for-money products out there- a respectable performer beyond brand name excess.

This year, the manufacturer added some features which are useful for us players as these are the common effects we'd invest in pedal form so the integration into the amp is much appreciated, especially the distortion & envelope filter.

Sub,the diff in amp Watts ,does it play a big part?im just wonderin whats the point of getting a 50w amp when i m only allowed to tweak at minimum volume at my parents 3 rm Hdb,fyi its my dad old and dusty peavey.

Higher watts = louder sound. Pretty much it.

a 50W amp is definitely overkill for a hdb flt. most people i know think 30W is already pushing the limit.

amp wattage & volume is a tricky combo, a lower wattage unit isn't going to be a polite unit volume-wise. meaning, lower wattage unit doesn't mean it's a softer affair- i have my 1W Killer Ant head plugged into a Marshall 4x12 to prove that.

i'm living in an HDB unit as well but i own a 100W Marshall- not saying i have utter disrespect for my neighbours but i'm not going to let any domestic restrictions get in the way of acquiring my preferred tone.

when it comes to amp tones, especially a full tube unit, we need to know that volume tweak reacts accordingly to the wattage on offer. a 50w amp will sound different from a 100W unit with both volumes on 5, for instance. that's why, when tone is the consideration, people get picky with wattage.
