Many of us find the singlecut guitar design simple & desirable. However, acquiring a Gibson Les Paul would prove to be too prohibitive in terms of price considerations so we look at the clones out there in hope of finding that elusive value-for-money model. AXL's Badwater range has this 1216 model depicted above (I've featured this guitar here before, if you could recall...), listing for $295 $250 (@ Davis GMC). The traditional Les Paul fan would have second thoughts about the satin finish & that less pronounced cut away which is a little put-off in terms of design. But this isn't a design appraisal, the 1216 is a well built guitar with the Les Paul BFG philosophy clearly manifested- it pays very little homage to cosmetics but delivers the fundamentals in terms of playability & tone. The default alnico humbuckers possess this signature classic rock tones but with sharpen definition so it's an enticement for you shredders out there. If you can live without the gloss feel of the traditional Les Paul, the 1216 is indeed a cheap & cheerful pick.

the distressed model looks good to...
davis gmc recently brought in the 'cracked earth' finish- very good player as well :-)
Badwater ? Havent heard abt it before la.nevertheless the price is so tempting la,btw sub fGus G guitar looks the same as this too.
they are all single cut design, in the likeness of a Les Paul but the Gus G model (based on the ESP eclipse) has different body dimensions so there is a tonal difference :-)
hmm... does Gus G himself like it? here's a perspective: http://theguitaraddict.blogspot.com/2011/03/eclipsing-lp.html
Yo sub, what abt the badwater es-335 model? What r your views?
no views in the mean time- have not tried it :-)
seriously, the only thing preventing me from getting anything similar to a lespaul is that the access to the higher registers is a pain in the ass lol
250 sing!!! Wow, its already on my list for my DADs B day next mth..Sub do they have the 335ish model type?
reuel: that happened to me & i'm still bothered by the upper fret access maybe that's the reason LPs don't click with me... nevermind if they are everbody else's dream guitars...
no semi-hollow AXL @ Davis. there's the other Strat type & bass. there's a SAMICK semi-hollow @ Davis which you should check out :-)
i think the only lespaul shaped guitar that appeals is the neckthrough model from esp...but that is an artist model, and it stands out too much lol. guess lespauls just werent meant for me =/
