Ibanez 2013: 7 news

A good Sunday morning to you. It's a little early to be listing down a concrete to-get list for 2013, especially when NAMM 2013 has yet to begin, but more gear feeds would help us firm-up our wants (not needs, yes?). From the Ibanez camp comes 2 interesting considerations for the 7-string campers, first up would be this very affordable GIO 7 model, the GRG7221. You'd want something affordable with an extra string (from an established 7-string guitar manufacturer), this is it.

In 2012, we had the Premium JEM so naturally, it's a Premium Universe for 2013 (above: UV70). Remember the UV7 was discontinued this year & a replacement had yet to be announced? Maybe this is it (no official word from Ibanez as yet). If it's a 'worthy' replacement then we'd question Ibanez's wisdom in offering a substitute from a slightly lower tier offering. However, unlike the Premium JEM, this Premium Universe is equipped with DiMarzio's Blaze pickups (those of us senior enough would remember the goodness of this pickup) not the DiMarzio IBZ units we'd end up doing away with (hey, man- it's a rather costly affair). Ibanez is also psyching us up into accepting this newbie with that retro colour combo & based on this retro goodness, we'd be GASing for one. I foresee dweebs buying this one & telling everyone else they totally own the Universe- you don't even own the world. Shut up already.

Unfortunately not into them. Most likely to give the Elite range a miss as well. Upset.
