Paul Gilbert: Fuzz Universe

Master shredder Paul Gilbert offers us his 3rd all instrumental outing, Fuzz Universe, which further establishes his reputation as one of the genre's best musician & fretboard technician. However, this is a rather peculiar release by Mr. Gilbert as he personally touted it to be loaded with guitar works but the album as a whole sounds restrained & very structured. There was focus on memorable, melodic guitar lines which screamed simplicity more than anything else but tone fans would be pleased to hear how the master put his Marshall to work very effectively. Since his preference for the amp & some single coil pickups from his custom Ibanez Fireman, we could hear a more organic output when it comes to guitar tones as compared to his non-Marshall involvements. But if you think you can pull off a Paul Gilbert just by acquiring a Marshall Vintage Modern- it's not that simple.
